Cal State Bakersfield defeats Morgan State 80-68
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Aly Ahmed scored 21 points, Kevin Mays added 18, and both had eight rebounds to lead Cal State Bakersfield to an 80-68 win over Morgan State on Thursday.
The duo combined for 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting in the first half when the Roadrunners (9-5) shot 53 percent with a plus-11 rebounding advantage to forge a 42-30 lead.
The Bears (2-10) never cut the lead below 10 and they went without a field goal for almost seven minutes. Bakersfield led 57-34 when Brent Wrapp made a 3-point play with 12:35 to play.
Cedric Blossom had 19 points and Rasean Simpson 15 for Morgan State, which shot 36 percent for the game, including 4 of 14 from 3-point range.
Bakersfield finished at 51 percent and had 20 assists on 28 baskets. Dedrick Basile had eight assists and Jaylin Airington had five with 12 points.
