St. Francis Brooklyn overtakes Hartford in 74-67 win
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Yunus Hopkinson and Tyreek Jewell scored 20 points apiece to lift St. Francis Brooklyn to a 74-67 win over Hartford on Sunday.
Hopkinson hit 7 of 13 from the field and had four 3-pointers, including the go-ahead bucket late in the second half. Chris Hooper added 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Terriers (2-4) snap a three-game skid.
Trailing by nine early in the second half, St. Francis rallied with a 12-0 run -- capped by Hopkinson's 3-pointer -- to make it 58-55 with six minutes to play. Hartford stayed close, cutting the deficit to a point on three straight possessions but never regained the advantage.
Glenn Sanabria's 3 with 1:37 left ignited a 7-2 burst that stretched the St. Francis lead to 69-62 and the Terriers held on down the stretch.
Hartford (3-4) got 24 points from George Blagojevic and J.R. Lynch added 20.
