Coleman, Lynn lead NJIT past Stetson 71-59
DELAND, Fla. -- Tim Coleman scored 21 with eight rebounds and Damon Lynn added 15 and 10 to help New Jersey Institute of Technology beat Stetson 71-59 Saturday.
Chris Jenkins hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for NJIT (10-9, 1-2 Atlantic Sun).
Lynn hit two of his three 3-pointers in the first four minutes as the Highlanders opened the game with a 10-2 run. A layup by Derick Newton with 13:46 left in the half pulled Stetson (7-12, 1-3) within one, but NJIT responded with a 14-3 run to make it 26-12 about seven minutes later and took a 39-19 lead into halftime.
The Hatters trailed by double figures throughout the second half.
NJIT hit seven of its 12 3s in the first half and limited Stetson to 32 percent (16-of-50) shooting.
Newton and Luke Doyle led the Hatters with 13 points apiece. Divine Myles scored 10.
