Siena tops Radford 76-62
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Marquis Wright scored 21 points and Javion Ogunyemi had 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead Siena to a 76-62 win over Radford in the 2K Classic on Friday.
Brett Bisping and Lavon Long added 13 points apiece for the Saints (1-2), who had opened the season with losses to then-No. 5 Duke and No. 17 Wisconsin. Siena is the first school to open against the defending national champion and runner-up since the NCAA Tournament field expanded to 64 teams in 1985.
Radford (2-2) was led by Ed Polite Jr., with 13 points and Darius Bolstad with 11.
Siena made 22 of 25 free throws and outrebounded the Highlanders 45-31.
The Saints closed the half with an 8-1 run for a 31-24 lead and then opened the second half with an 11-0 spurt, seven from Bisping, to lead 40-24. Long scored six straight in a late 8-0 surge to clinch it.
