Samford tops Kennesaw State 77-65
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Darius Jones-Gibson had 13 points, and Samford used a balanced offensive attack to top Kennesaw State 77-65 Saturday night.
Six players scored at least seven points for Samford (2-1). Marcus Johnson and Iman Johnson had 12 points, and Matt Rose added 11. Iman Johnson was 5 for 5 from the field and nabbed four steals.
Yonel Brown scored 22 points on 10-of-21 shooting for Kennesaw State. Aubrey Williams came off the bench to score 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting, and Kendrick Ray had 15 points, five boards and four assists.
Both teams shot the ball well early, with Kennesaw State making 6 of its first 9 shots while Samford made 7 of 8.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 23 points in the second half and forced the Owls into 20 turnovers.
