Engesser with 26 points, leads Denver over Lipscomb 82-69
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Nate Engesser matched a career-high with 26 points to lead Denver to an 82-69 victory at the Cable Car Classic on Sunday.
Engesser was 9 of 13 from the field, including 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. Bryant Rucker scored 15 points, and Marcus Byrd added 12 points with assists for Denver (2-1).
J.C. Hampton scored 21 points, Nathan Moran had 13, and Eli Pepper added 9 points with 13 rebounds to lead Lipscomb (1-2).
The Pioneers led 42-26 a minute into the second half. Pepper made a 3-pointer and Hampton made three consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Bisons to 42-40. The Pioneers stretched its lead to seven before Hampton scored 6 points, Garrison Mathews made a 3-pointer, and David Wishon scored on a dunk and the Bisons led 63-60 with 4:28 to play.
The Pioneers made four consecutive 3-pointers and closed on 22-6 run to end it.
