Lipscomb holds on to beat Stetson 77-74 for 4th-straight win
DELAND, Fla. -- Garrison Mathews scored 21 points and Lipscomb held on to beat Stetson 77-74 on Saturday for its fourth-straight win.
Mathews was 7 of 14 from the floor. Nathan Moran added 13 points and J.C. Hampton 12 for the Bisons (11-19, 7-6 Atlantic Sun Conference), who shot 52 percent from the field.
Divine Myles scored 16 points to lead Stetson (9-20, 3-10), which has lost five consecutive games. Brian Pegg and Grant Lozoya added 15 points each.
Myles made a 3-pointer and the Hatters had their last lead, 66-65. The Bisons answered with a 10-4 spurt to take a 75-70 lead with three minutes left. Moran had scored five points during the stretch.
Derick Newton made a pair of free throws and Myles had a layup to pull the Hatters to 75-74, and Hampton's layup made it 77-74.
Lozoya then missed a deep 3-point attempt at the buzzer to end it.
