Louisiana Tech crushes Rice 88-69
RUSTON, La. -- Alex Hamilton scored 25 points with 11 rebounds and Louisiana Tech crushed Rice 88-69 on Saturday.
Hamilton was 10 of 15 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers. Jacobi Boykins scored 19 points and Dayon Griffin added 13 as Louisiana Tech (22-7, 11-5 Conference USA) shot nearly 51 percent.
Louisiana Tech took control early and never trailed. The Bulldogs got out to an 11-3 lead, stretched it to 28-13 on Boykins' 3-pointer and led 41-26 at the half.
An 8-0 spurt midway through the second half -- including a 3-pointer by Hamilton -- pushed the lead to 60-38 and Louisiana Tech cruised.
Rice (12-17, 7-9) was led by Egor Koulechov with 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Marcus Evans scored 18 points and Marquez Letcher-Ellis added 11. The Owls were 5 of 19 from beyond the arc.
