College of Charleston downs Navy, 72-58
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Canyon Barry scored 22 points, including 8-of-9 at the free throw line, to help lead College of Charleston to a 72-58 win over Navy on Monday night.
Evan Bailey had 12 points for the Cougars (2-0). Cameron Johnson and Marquise Pointer each finished with 11, with Johnson adding six rebounds.
Edward Alade made a layup for Navy with 3:20 left, which cut the College of Charleston lead to four (60-56). That turned out to be the last field goal of the game for the Midshipmen. Barry converted a 3-point play 16 seconds later, sparking a 12-2 run for the Cougars to close out the game.
Navy's only points came via two Bryce Dulin free throws.
The Cougars defense was stout much of the night, holding Navy to 37.2 percent shooting.
Shawn Anderson led the Midshipmen (0-2) with 21 points. Jace Hogan added 16 and 10 rebounds.
