Hofstra downs FAU 68-54
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Ameen Tanksley scored 20 points with four 3-pointers and grabbed 11 rebounds, Juan'ya Green added 19 points, and Hofstra beat Florida Atlantic 68-54 on Tuesday night.
Brian Bernardi scored 10 points, Rokas Gustys grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Pride (7-4) outrebounded the Owls 47-28 and scored 14 points off of 12 turnovers.
Up 34-23 at halftime, Hofstra opened the second half with an 11-2 run and led 45-25 after a layup and 3-pointer by Bernardi. FAU gained on a 10-3 run in which Marquan Botley made a 3, but Bernardi hit another 3 for a 65-48 Hofstra lead with 2:27 left. Jackson Trapp hit a 3 with 52 seconds left, but FAU couldn't catch up.
Trapp scored 14 with four 3s, Botley added 10 points, and Nick Rutherford had five assists for FAU (2-10).
