Hofstra downs Delaware 90-80
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Juan'ya Green scored 19 points and contributed 11 assists to help lead Hofstra over Delaware 90-80 on Thursday in a Colonial Athletic Association opener.
The Pride (9-4, 1-0) shot 14 of 33 from beyond the 3-point arc (42 percent), led by Ameen Tanksley's four 3s. Denton Koon scored 17 points, Tanksley 16, Rokas Gustys 13 and Brian Bernardi 12.
Trailing 43-40 at halftime, Delaware's Cazmon Hayes tied it at 43 with a 3-pointer, but Hofstra pulled away on a 12-2 run and led 70-60 with 10:09 left after Green and Tanksley each hit 3s. Tanksley's jumper with 4:36 left sparked an 8-1 Hofstra run and the Pride held on in the final 1:31.
Anthony Mosely scored 20 points for Delaware (5-7, 0-1), which has lost four straight. Marvin King-Davis has 19 points with 11 rebounds and Hayes scored 16.
