DENVER -- Bryant Rucker shot 6 for 6 from the field for 16 points and had a career-high eight assists while Marcus Byrd added 16 points and five rebounds to lead Denver over South Alabama 69-56 on Saturday.
Rucker scored 13 of the Pioneers' first 25 points as Denver (5-1) built a 10-point lead. A 9-5 Denver run wrapped up the half for a 34-20 lead at the break.
Rucker's final points of the game came on a 3 giving the Pioneers a 49-29 lead with 10:27 left.
The Pioneers have now hit a 3-pointer in 291 straight games. Denver's five-game winning streak is the longest since the Pioneers won 10 straight during the 2012-13 season.
