Tanksley, Green lead Hofstra past Drexel 70-64
PHILADELPHIA -- Ameen Tanksley and Juan'ya Green each scored 15 points and Hofstra beat Drexel 70-64 on Saturday to spoil Tavon Allen's 33-point outing.
Hofstra, which trailed by as many as 13, took its first lead of the second half at 54-52 on Denton Koon's 3-pointer with 5:45 left. His basket came during Hofstra's 22-5 spurt in which Green and Tanksley each scored seven points.
Tanksley made a steal, was fouled on the other end and hit two free throws with 36.3 second left for a 68-64 lead. Drexel had four shots on its next possession but could not get one to fall.
Koon and Rokas Gustys added 11 points apiece for Hofstra (16-6, 8-2), which won its fourth straight to stay atop the Colonial Athletic Association. Gustys also grabbed 12 rebounds but Hofstra was outrebounded 44-35.
Allen hit six 3-pointers and scored a career high for Drexel (3-18, 1-9). The senior topped his previous best of 21 points set earlier this season.
