BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Dylan Poston scored 17 points, including two key 3-pointers to help Gardner-Webb pull away and beat Charleston Southern 84-76 on Thursday night.
Poston was 6 of 9 from the floor. Isaiah Ivey added 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting for Gardner-Webb (14-14, 9-7 Big South), which shot 57 percent from the field.
Aaron Wheeler scored a career-high 31 points to lead Charleston Southern (8-18, 5-11), which has lost seven of its last eight games. Armel Potter made just 3 of 13 field goals but finished with 17 points.
Poston made a 3-pointer to spark a 13-1 run and give the Bulldogs a 76-63 lead with three minutes left. Poston made two 3s and Ivey had five points during the stretch.
Wheeler forced two turnovers and scored four points to pull the Buccaneers to 76-71 with 1:35 remaining. Adonis Burbage answered with a 3 and the Bulldogs cruised from there.
