Campbell rallies to force OT, beats Gardner-Webb 89-85
BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Chris Clemons had 24 points, Khadre Lane had a pair of overtime 3s and Campbell led the entire extra period to beat Gardner-Webb 89-85 on Thursday night.
Lane, who finished with 20 points, scored on a 3-pointer that gave Campbell (9-15, 3-11 Big South Conference) the lead for good at 81-78 with 4 minutes left in overtime. He hit another to make it 85-81 at 1:40.
Gardner-Webb twice closed within three in the final minute, but Campbell made three of its last four from the foul line to hold off the Bulldogs (13-13, 8-6).
The Camels forced overtime with a 12-5 run to end the second half.
Troy Harper added 16 points, D.J. Mason scored 14 and Shane Whitfield had 10 for Campbell.
Adonis Burbage made 6 of 10 from 3-point range and led Gardner-Webb with 20 points. Harold McBride added 18 points, Dylan Poston scored 13 and Isaiah Ivey had 11.
