Reid hits 6 3s, scores 20; Liberty holds off Longwood 69-68
FARMVILLE, Va. -- A.C. Reid hit a career-high six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as Liberty hit a season-high 16 from behind the arc and held on for a 69-68 win over Longwood on Saturday.
Caleb Homesley and John Dawson scored 13 apiece for Liberty. Dawson added seven rebounds and five assists.
Homesley hit a 3-pointer to give the Lancers (12-15, 9-5 Big South Conference) a 69-63 lead with 3:30 to play.
Longwood's Lotanna Nwogbo converted a 3-point play about 45 seconds later when he was fouled on a putback of a missed layup, pulling the Lancers (8-19, 4-10) within three.
The teams combined to make 0 of 8 field goal attempts and commit three turnovers in the final 2:24. Nwogbo made a pair of free throws that capped the scoring with 14 seconds left.
Tra'Vaughn White missed a potential winning jumper as time expired.
Nwogbo scored 21 on 8-of-9 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds for Longwood.
