Temple rallies from 10 down to beat Houston 69-66
HOUSTON -- Obi Enechionyia scored a career-high 26 points as Temple rallied from a 10-point deficit and beat Houston 69-66 on Sunday night to remain alone atop the American Athletic Conference standings.
The Owls (17-9, 11-3) have won nine of their last 11 games -- including an 83-67 home loss to No. 1 Villanova last Wednesday -- and are a game up on SMU in the conference.
Damyean Dotson made a 3-pointer to give Houston a 54-44 lead. Temple answered with a 20-10 run to tie it at 64-all with 57 seconds left. Enechionyia scored seven points and Devin Coleman had five of his eight points during the stretch.
Enechionyia forced a turnover on the Cougars' ensuing possession, and Coleman sank a 3 to give the Owls a 67-64 lead. Devonta Pollard made a layup to pull Houston to 67-66. Josh Brown made a pair of free throws, and then Rob Gray Jr. missed a deep 3-pointer to end it.
Gray and Dotson scored 20 apiece to lead Houston (19-8, 9-6).
