Oakland beats Wright State 89-73 for 2nd place in Horizon
DAYTON, Ohio -- Martez Walker made four 3-pointers and scored 22 points, Jalen Hayes and Kay Felder each had double-doubles and Oakland beat Wright State 89-73 Monday night for sole possession of second place in the Horizon League.
Oakland led by just six points at the break but opened the second half on a 15-5 run -- highlighted by two 3-pointers from Max Hooper -- for a 60-44 lead.
Walker opened a 12-0 run with a 3-pointer and Felder capped it with a 3 for an 80-60 lead with 5:19 remaining.
Felder, the NCAA Division I leader in assists, had 15 points and 12 assists and Hayes added 17 points with 10 boards for Oakland (19-9, 11-4). Felder hit 5 of 5 free throws to set a school record with 46 consecutive makes. Hooper hit 4 of 8 3-pointers to move into third place in the nation with 98 made 3s.
Mark Alstork led Wright State (16-12, 10-5) with 18 points.
