LIU Brooklyn beats UMass Lowell 84-72
NEW YORK -- Iverson Fleming scored a season-high 17 points and LIU Brooklyn defeated UMass Lowell 84-72 on Thursday night.
Joel Hernandez and Jerome Frink both added 16 points and eight rebounds. Aakim Saintil scored 13 points for the Blackbirds (4-2), who snapped a two-game losing streak in ending a two-game winning streak for the River Hawks (3-3).
LIU Brooklyn hit 12 of 26 attempts from the arc, the most 3-pointers for the Blackbirds since December 2013.
The River Hawks came in as the America East's leader for 3-point field-goal percentage at 40.7 but only made 5 of 21 for 23.8 percent Thursday.
Keith Hayes II had a season-high 20 points for UMass Lowell. Tyler Livingston added 12.
LIU led virtually the entire game, was up by seven at halftime and 22 with 16:53 left. The River Hawks got as close as seven in the second half.
