Stony Brook dumps UMass Lowell 91-73 behind Warney
LOWELL, Mass. -- Jameel Warney scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Stony Brook beat UMass-Lowell 91-73 Saturday and extended the nation's longest winning streak to 15 games.
Warney -one of five Seawolves in double figures- shot 10 for 14 from the field and hauled in eight offensive rebounds. Carson Puriefoy had 17 points and nine rebounds and Lucas Woodhouse added 16.
Stony Brook (19-4, 10-0 American East) shot 36 for 71 from the field (50.7 percent).
Stony Brook used a 9-3 run in the final two minutes of the first half and led 37-28 at halftime.
After the break, Ahmad Walker hit a 3, Woodhouse and Puriefoy each converted layups, Woodhouse buried a 3 and Walker had a 3-point play and the lead swelled to 50-32.
Isaac White led UMass (8-15, 4-6) with 20 points, while Mark Cornelius and Matt Harris each finished with 11.
