Primerano scores 29 points and UMass Lowell edges UMBC 96-92
LOWELL, Mass. -- Logan Primerano scored 14 of his career-high 29 points in the last 4:17 and UMass Lowell edged Maryland-Baltimore County 96-92 on Sunday.
Primerano, a freshman, was 16 of 17 from the line -- including 12 of 13 in the last four minutes. Jahad Thomas scored 23 points for UMass Lowell (11-15, 7-6 America East), while Isaac White added 15.
UMass Lowell led by nine with 7:33 to go, but UMBC used a 12-2 run to go up one with 5:31 left.
The teams traded the lead several times over the next few minutes. Lowell's Matt Harris sank a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to lead by five at 94-89. Will Darley's 3-pointer on the next possession drew UMBC within two. The Retrievers fouled on the inbounds play, Primerano sank both, and UMBC didn't get another shot.
Darley led UMBC (6-21, 2-10) with 31 points, his career best. Rodney Elliott scored 20 points and Jairus Lyles added 16.
