Florida Gulf Coast cruises against Texas Wesleyan, 85-62
FORT MEYERS, Fla. -- Filip Cvjeticanin scored 18 points and Marc Eddy Norelia added 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds to help lead Florida Gulf coast past Texas Wesleyan, 85-62, on Monday night.
Julian DeBose finished with 14 points and Christian Terrell and Antravious Simmons each had 11 for Florida Gulf Coast (1-1), which shot 47.8 percent from the field, won the rebounding battle by eight (50-42), and forced 15 turnovers.
After the teams battled to a 10-10 tie through the first four minutes, the Eagles ripped off a 20-3 run, capped off by a Zach Johnson jumper, which extended their lead to 17 (30-13). Florida Gulf Coast led 42-30 at the half and pushed its lead past 20 on a DeBose 3-pointer two minutes into the second period.
Trevon Jeffery and Bj Batts each finished with 15 points for Texas Wesleyan.
