McCree sparks Louisiana Tech past Texas-Arlington 80-68
RUSTON, La. -- Eric McCree scored 20 points and Louisiana Tech rallied from 10 points down at the break to beat former conference rival Texas-Arlington, 80-68 Tuesday night in the 2015 Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational.
The Bulldogs and Mavericks were Western Athletic Conference travel partners as recently as the 2012-13 season.
Erick Neal scored on a layup to give the Mavericks a 12-point lead, 48-36 with just under 16 minutes left in the game. McCree knocked down a jumper to spark a 9-0 run that cut the lead to just 3 with 12:17 left. Minutes later the Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run that gave them a 56-52 lead they never relinquished.
Alex Hamilton scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Derric Jean and Qiydar Davis added 12 points apiece top spark Louisiana Tech (2-0).
Neal finished with 23 points and Kaelon Wilson added another 13 for Texas-Arlington (1-1).
