Dixon hits go-ahead 3 in OT, William & Mary beats High Point
WILLIMSBURG, Va. -- Daniel Dixon scored the final six William & Mary points in overtime, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with four seconds left, and the Tribe beat High Point 78-75 Monday night.
Lorenzo Cugini hit a 3-pointer to break a 60-all tie with 2:01 left in regulation. William & Mary made 4 of 4 free throws on its next two possessions for a one-point lead.
Adam Weary's layup gave High Point a 65-64 lead and, after Dixon nailed a 3-pointer with 6.8 seconds left, Haiishen McIntyre hit a runner to tie it at 67. Omar Prewitt's half-court heave hit off the rim at the buzzer.
Dixon started overtime with a 3-pointer as William & Mary never trailed in the extra period. He broke a tie at 73 with a layup and a 75-all tie with his 3.
Dixon finished with 20 points for William & May (7-3).
Cugini led High Point (8-4) with 20 points.
