Princeton beats Dartmouth 84-65 but lose out on Ivy title
HANOVER, N.H. -- Steven Cook scored 27 points with a career-best six 3-pointers as Princeton dominated short-handed Dartmouth 84-65 on Saturday night, but the Tigers' slender hopes to win the Ivy League evaporated when Yale beat Cornell.
Princeton's run to tie Yale -- and force a playoff for the championship -- took a hit Thursday when Harvard's Patrick Steeves, who missed all of his first three seasons to injuries, went off for a career-best 25 points and a game-saving blocked shot in the Crimson's 73-71 upset.
The Tigers (21-6, 11-2) put the hammer down Saturday, shooting 56 percent in the first half for a 44-23 lead at the break, leading by as many as 30, and collecting 19 assists on 29 field goals while stealing the ball 13 times and forcing Dartmouth into 19 turnovers.
Connor Boehm scored 18 points for Dartmouth (10-18, 4-10) which was missing freshman Evan Boudreaux, its leading scorer and rebounder, to a foot injury.
