Hinds, Davis score 20 each in UMass' 99-69 win over BU
AMHERST, Mass. -- Jabarie Hinds and Trey Davis scored 20 points each and Massachusetts beat Boston University 99-69 on Wednesday night.
Rashaan Holloway and Donte Clark added 18 points each and C.J. Anderson 12 for the Minutemen (5-1), who made 38 of 69 shots for 55.1 percent. Clark had four 3-pointers and Hinds and Davis three apiece as UMass hit 13 of 25 from beyond the arc for 52 percent. Hinds and Davis both had three steals as UMass took advantage of 15 Terriers turnovers.
Justin Alston scored 13 points and Nathan Dieudonne 10 for the Terriers (3-4), who shot 37.9 percent.
Davis scored seven straight points to break an early tie and UMass pulled away to a 54-26 halftime lead.
It was the 72nd meeting for the in-state rivals but the first in five years.
The Minutemen just missed scoring 100 points for the first since December 2013.
