Miles, Bembry lead Saint Joseph's past Rhode Island 64-55
KINGSTON, R.I. -- Isaiah Miles made 9 of 10 free throws and scored 17 points, DeAndre Bembry had a double-double and Saint Joseph's defeated Rhode Island 64-55 on Saturday night.
Bembry had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Shavar Newkirk added 12 points for the Hawks (18-3, 7-1 Atlantic 10).
Jared Terrell had 17 of his 22 points and Jarvis Garrett 11 of his 13 in the second half for the Rams (12-9, 4-4).
Rhode Island went 6:13 without a field goal in the first half and Saint Joseph's took a 24-13 lead on Bembry's 3-point play with 5:05 left. The Hawks led 30-19 at the break as the Rams shot 19 percent (6 of 32).
After Rhode Island cut the deficit to six early in the second half, the Hawks went on a 16-2 run to lead 48-28 with 12:52 to play.
