Davis, Anderson lead UMass to 61-56 OT win over Rhode Island
AMHERST, Mass. -- Trey Davis had 20 points, and C.J. Anderson scored all six of his points in overtime to help UMass snap a six-game skid and beat Rhode Island 61-56 Tuesday night.
Donte Clark added 17 points for UMass.
The Minutemen (9-11, 2-6 Atlantic 10) scored the first six points -- four by Davis and two by Anderson -- of overtime to take a 57-51 lead with 1:38 to play.
Jared Terrell hit two free throws 27 seconds later to pull the Rams (12-10, 4-5) within four, but Anderson made 4 of 4 foul shots from there to seal it.
Rhode Island missed its first six shots, and committed three turnovers, in overtime.
Four McGlynn hit a 3 with 10 seconds left in regulation to give the Rams a 51-50 lead, but Davis made 1 of 2 free throws seven seconds later to force overtime.
Terrell led Rhode Island with 23 points.
