ELON, N.C. -- Quincy Ford had a career-high 30 points, eight rebounds and six assists to help Northeastern beat Elon 86-79 on Thursday in a Colonial Athletic Association opener.
David Walker added 26 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for Northeastern (9-5). He was 10 of 12 from the line as the Huskies made 24 of 29 (83 percent).
Ford hit five of the Huskies' 10 3-pointers and Walker made four.
Northeastern connected on four 3-pointers in the first six minutes of the first half for an 18-6 lead. Elon rallied to take a 28-24 lead after a 12-0 run, with five points from Luke Eddy.
Northeastern led 54-53 before Elon went without a field goal for six-plus minutes. The Huskies went on a 15-6 spurt during the dry spell, highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers by Ford and Walker.
Eddy scored 27 points for Elon (9-5) on 9-of-15 shooting.
