Florida Atlantic beats Miami (Ohio) 75-69
OXFORD, Ohio -- C.J. Turman posted a double-double Saturday and Adonis Filer scored 23 points as Florida Atlantic notched its first win with a 75-69 victory over Miami (Ohio).
Turman scored 19 points with 12 rebounds for the Owls (1-3). Adonis Filer led the scoring with 23 points including six free throws in the final seconds that kept FAU ahead for the win. Matthew Reed had 13 points and seven rebounds. The team averaged 46.8 percent from the field, 86.7 percent from the line and had a 36-23 rebounding edge over the RedHawks (2-2).
FAU led 28-23 at the break but fell behind 50-45 midway through the second half. Turman put the Owls back on top, 62-60, on a dunk with 3:02 to play and they never trailed again with the help of Filer who went 6 of 6 from the line in the final 20 seconds.
Logan McLane scored 13 points for the RedHawks.
