UAB coasts to 104-67 win over Florida Atlantic
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chris Cokley scored 14 points to lead seven Alabama-Birmingham players in double figures for a 104-67 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday night.
Robert Brown, Thomas Smallwood and Lewis Sullivan had 13 points each, Dirk Williams added 12 and William Lee had 10 to go with 10 rebounds for UAB (20-4, 10-1 Conference USA). The Blazers shot 60 percent from the field (38 of 63) and controlled the glass, 48-21, to extend their home win streak to 23.
UAB took control with a 35-5 run that stretched across both sides of the intermission and made it 57-25 with 15:13 left. Brown sank two 3-pointers during the stretch, while Lee and Norton had one apiece.
Florida Atlantic (6-18, 4-7) briefly led 7-6 when Jeantal Cylla sank a free throw, and tied the game at 15 before UAB pulled away.
Marquan Botley's 16 points led four Owls in double figures.
