Daviyon Draper scores 21, FIU beats FAU 71-63
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Daviyon Draper had 21 points and 13 rebounds and Adrian Diaz added 17 and 10 to help Florida International beat Florida Atlantic 71-63, sweeping the season series on Saturday.
Donte McGill added 19 points for the Golden Panthers (13-16, 7-9 Conference USA), who snapped a two-game skid with two games left in the season.
FIU scored 12 straight to pull away to a 47-31 lead midway through the second half and had its largest margin at 55-36 with 6:37 left. The Owls (7-22, 5-11) cut the gap to six in the final minute but too late to challenge the outcome.
The Panthers took the lead for good during a 9-0 run capped at 22-14 by Draper's jumper with 3:50 left in the first half.
Nick Rutherford had 16 points to lead FAU. Adonis Filer and Solomon Poole added 10 points each.
