Florida International sacks Trinity Baptist 71-39 in opener
MIAMI -- Adrian Diaz scored 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds as Florida International dominated Trinity Baptist 71-39 in Friday night's opener for both squads.
Diaz-the nation's seventh-leading shot blocker with three per game last year-rejected four on the night. He added three steals in just 27 minutes of action. He finished 5 for 8 from the field and free-throw line.
Daviyon Draper added 12 points on 6 for 11 shooting and four rebounds for Florida International.
The Panthers shot 51 percent for the game and held the Eagles to 25 percent (13 for 52). Florida International used its size advantage to outscore Trinity Baptist 36-10 in the paint.
Trinity Baptist managed to outrebound the Panthers though 39-37.
Enrique Bush led the Eagles with nine points and Marquel Perry chipped in eight.
