McGill's late 3 gives FIU 75-72 win over Western Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Donte McGill nailed a 3-pointer with 38 seconds remaining to give Florida International a 75-72 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday night.
Trailing 72-70, Eric Nottage stole the ball and fed McGill who nailed the trey to give FIU its first lead since the 14:54-mark in the second half. Nottage, who finished with 14, then made two free throws in the final seconds to secure FIU's second straight Conference USA win.
FIU (8-7, 2-0) has won four in a row after dropping five consecutive games.
Daviyon Draper was 10 of 19 from the floor to tie his career-high 21 points. Adrian Diaz and McGill added 16 points apiece for the Golden Panthers.
FIU hit 50 percent of its field-goal attempts while holding the Hilltoppers to 23-of-55 shooting.
Justin Johnson had a career-best 25 points to lead Western Kentucky (8-7, 0-2). Chris Harrison-Docks added 15.
