McGill scores 23 points, FIU rolls past UTSA 72-56
SAN ANTONIO -- Donte McGill scored 23 points and Florida International never trailed in a 72-56 victory over Texas-San Antonio on Thursday night.
McGill was 8 of 16 from the floor and made all seven free-throw attempts. Adrian Diaz had 12 points, and Daviyon Draper chipped in 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Golden Panthers (10-9, 4-2 Conference USA).
Christian Wilson scored 12 points, Ryan Bowie added 11 and J.R. Harris 10 for Texas-San Antonio (4-15, 2-4), which shot just 19 of 58 from the floor for 33 percent.
Florida International had a double-digit lead midway through the first half and led 30-25 at halftime. Wilson split a pair of free throws to pull the Roadrunners to 32-28. The Golden Panthers answered with a 23-11 run and led 55-39 with ten minutes left. McGill scored eight points during the stretch.
