UAB Blazers @ Florida International Panthers
Williams, Lee pace UAB past FIU for record-tying 25th win
MIAMI -- Dirk Williams led with 17 points off the bench, sophomore William Lee added 14 with a pair of blocked shots and UAB defeated Florida International 77-60 on Thursday night, tying a school record with its 25th win.
Lee hit a 3-pointer just two minutes into the game, sparking a run that had UAB up by 10 early and the Blazers -- though fighting off a couple of FIU rallies -- cruised from there.
Defense took over as the Blazers (25-5, 15-2 Conference USA) had 13 steals and four blocked shots, forcing FIU into a season-worst 22 turnovers.
The Blazers, who are 14-0 when Williams scores in double figures, have already clinched the C-USA regular-season championship with one game left, and set a school record of 190 blocked shots.
Donte McGill scored 17 points, Daviyon Draper added 13 for FIU (13-17, 6-10).
