Lemar lifts UC Davis to a 50-49 win over UC Riverside
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Josh Fox scored 16 points and Brynton Lemar hit a jumper with two seconds left to give UC Davis a 50-49 win over UC Riverside on Saturday night.
Malik Thames and Taylor Johns each converted two free throws in the final 36 seconds to put Riverside up, 49-48 with eight seconds left.
Jaylen Bland hit a 3-pointer to spark a 7-0 Riverside run early in the second half to give the Highlanders a 31-26 lead, but the Aggies answered with a 7-0 run of their own to trail by one, 36-35 midway through the second half.
Neal Monson hit a layup with 2:46 left to give Davis a 48-40 lead, but the Aggies did not score again until Lemar hit the game-winner.
Lemar added 13 points for Davis (10-12, 5-4).
Johns finished with 16 points, hitting 8 of 10 from the free throw line, to pace Riverside (13-13, 4-6).
