Odunsi leads Houston Baptist to 99-73 win over NW State
NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Anthony Odunsi hit 7 of 11 field goals and made 11 of 12 free throws for 27 points to help lead Houston Baptist to a 99-73 win over Northwestern State in the Southland Conference opener on Saturday.
Houston Baptist (6-7, 1-0), which started the season 1-5, has won five of its last seven games, losing to Arizona State and Michigan. The Huskies just missed hitting the century mark for fourth time this season.
Reveal Chukwujekwu made 7 of 13 from the floor for 16 points, Jourdan Stickler added 15 and Josh Ibarra 13. Alex Fountain chipped in 10 and Colter Lasher had six points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Odunsi nailed a 3-point jumper to start a 15-4 run in the second half that led to a 68-49 advantage with 12:05 left. Northwestern State could never close the gap.
Ishmael Lane had 18 points for the Demons (3-8, 0-1)
