Southern Miss beats North Dakota State 74-62 for first win
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Quinton Campbell had career highs with five 3-pointers and 17 points, and Southern Mississippi beat North Dakota State 74-62 on Sunday night for its first win.
Campbell shot 6 of 8 from the floor. Eddie Davis III scored a career-best 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting for Southern Miss (1-6). Kourtlin Jackson chipped in 12 points with a career-high six assists.
Paul Miller made four 3-pointers and had 15 points to lead North Dakota State (5-3). A.J. Jacobson added 10 points.
Khari Price and Campbell made back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Eagles a 37-27 halftime lead. Carlin Dupree's jumper pulled the Bison to 44-35 with 15:46 to play. Campbell answered with a 3-pointer and Southern Miss led by double digits the rest of the way.
The Bison shot 37.5 percent and scored a season-low 62 points.
