Akron blows out Division III Hiram 100-30
AKRON, Ohio -- Aaron Jackson scored 16 points, Jake Kretzer made three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, and Akron beat Division III Hiram 100-30 Monday night.
Akron went on a 20-4 run in the first half -- as Hiram went scoreless for nine-plus minutes -- and led 44-10 at halftime.
Jimond Ivey, Reggie McAdams and Pat Forsythe added 12 points apiece for Akron (2-0). Isaiah Johnson had 9 points and 14 rebounds, and Forsythe grabbed 12 boards as the Zips controlled the boards 65-34.
Akron made 11 of 28 3-pointers.
Kyle Deckerd made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Hiram, which shot 4 of 30 from distance in its season opener. The Terriers, of the North Coast Athletic Conference, were 12-of-70 shooting (17 percent) from the field.
Deckerd made Hiram's first three baskets of the second half, all 3-pointers.
