Kiapway hits late FTs; Ball State beats Alabama A&M 63-62
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Bo Calhoun scored 16 points and Francis Kiapway made a go-ahead free throw in the closing seconds to help Ball State beat Alabama A&M 63-62 on Tuesday night.
Rakiya Battle's basket with 2:57 remaining extended Alabama A&M's lead to 62-56. Kiapway answered with a 3-pointer and the Cardinals made 4 of 6 free throws the rest of the way while holding the Bulldogs scoreless.
Franko House made two free throws at the 55-second mark to tie it at 62-all. Alabama A&M stepped on the baseline on its next possession and Kiapway made the second of two free throws for a one-point lead with 19.5 seconds left. Ladarius Tabb hit the side of the backboard on a baseline runner before the final buzzer.
House had 15 points and eight rebounds for Ball State (8-4), which was 15 of 22 from the stripe compared to 4 of 13 for Alabama A&M.
Tabb led Alabama A&M (4-5) with 29 points.
