Bowling Green outlasts Miami (Ohio), 73-62
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Zack Denny scored 20 points and added eight rebounds to help lead Bowling Green to a 73-62 win over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday night.
The game was the MAC Conference opener for both teams.
Antwon Lillard added 16 points, including 8 of 10 at the free throw line, for Bowling Green (10-4, 1-0).
The Falcons were stout defensively, holding Miami (Ohio) to 34.3 percent shooting from the field and 2 of 12 from 3-point range.
Willie Moore made a layup for the RedHawks to cut Bowling Green's lead to 42-41 with 11:36 remaining in the game. But the Falcons responded with an 11-1 spurt, capped off by a David Joseph 3-pointer, which pushed the lead past double figures (53-42).
Eric Washington made two free throws to cut the lead back to eight with 1:29 left for the RedHawks, but they got no closer.
Washington led Miami (Ohio) with 21 points.
