Monmouth (NJ) cruises to 91-67 win over Fairfield
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Austin Tilghman scored a career-high 16 on 6-of-7 shooting to lead seven Monmouth players in double figures as the Hawks cruised to a 91-67 win over Fairfield on Friday night.
Monmouth has won five games in a row and 10 of its last 11.
Chris Brady had 13 points, Justin Robinson and Deon Jones added 12 apiece, Micah Seaborn and Je'lon Hornbeak scored 11 each and Collin Stewart had 10 for the Hawks (19-5, 11-2 Metro Atlantic). Robinson added nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Back-to-back layups by Marcus Gilbert pulled Fairfield (12-11, 6-7) within five with 13 minutes left but Tilghman converted a 3-point play and Stewart hit a 3 as Monmouth scored six in a row to start a 25-5 run over the next seven minutes.
Tyler Nelson led the Stags with 19 points, while Gilbert added 12.
