Monmouth survives cold shooting to beat Quinnipiac 66-51
HAMDEN, Conn. -- Justin Robinson despite a chilly night from the floor, scored 13 points as Monmouth forced 17 turnovers and defeated Quinnipiac 66-51 on Thursday night, tightening its grip on first place in conference.
Monmouth (16-5, 8-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) shot 34 percent from the field (20 of 59) but Quinnipiac made just 15 of 69 field goals for 22 percent.
Robinson hit just 3 of his 11 shots, but converted 6 of 10 free throws for his 13 points. Chris Brady added 11 points with seven rebounds for the Hawks.
Quinnipiac made just 6 of 40 from the field in the first half, but still only trailed 27-20 at halftime. Ayron Hutton and Daniel Harris scored 11 apiece to lead the Bobcats (5-13, 2-7).
Monmouth tightened its hold atop the MAAC standings as St. Peter's (6-3) was upset 76-45 by Rider Thursday.
