Savannah State rallies in overtime, defeats Coppin St. 72-63
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Brian Pearson and Lenjo Kilo scored the first four points in overtime and never gave up the lead as Savannah State held off Coppin State 72-63 Monday night.
Trevon Seymore scored and added a free throw after being fouled by Pearson with 13 seconds left in regulation, and Savannah State missed a tie-breaking shot at the buzzer, forcing overtime at 57-57.
Troyce Manassa and Kamil Williams scored 13 points each to lead the Tigers (9-13, 5-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic). Pearson finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Kilo nine points and nine boards. Manassa also grabbed nine rebounds.
James Sylvester led Coppin State (5-18, 3-7) with a career-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers, and Christian Kessee added 18 points. Seymore finished with nine points including a 3-pointer to bring Coppin State as close as 63-61 in overtime. His game-tying free throw in regulation was the only one he made.
