Butler leads Norfolk State over Washington Adventist 78-58
NORFOLK, Va. -- Jordan Butler had career-highs of 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks to lead Norfolk State over NAIA member Washington Adventist 78-58 on Tuesday night.
Butler was 6 of 11 from the floor and made all seven free throws attempts. Jeff Short scored 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Charles Oliver had 11 points and D'Shon Taylor chipped in 10 for the Norfolk State (1-1).
Brian Bridgeforth had 14 points with 13 rebounds to lead Washington Adventist. Elliot Meredith scored 12 points and Tyrus Fleetwood added 11. Ronald Farmer-Blanchard added 10 rebounds.
The Spartans used an 18-2 run to lead 23-7 midway through the first half. The Shock made three consecutive 3-pointers to pull to 27-18.
Norfolk State led 35-24 at halftime, and opened the second half on a 9-0 run to stretch its lead to 20 points with 15 minutes left.
