Wofford wallops ETSU 87-73 as Collins scores 24
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Spencer Collins poured in 24 points and Justin Gordon 15 as Wofford built a comfortable halftime lead and cruised past East Tennessee State 87-73 on Thursday night, handing the Buccaneers just their second loss in the last 10 games.
Collins, who leads the Southern Conference in scoring and 3-point shooting, was 5-for-13 shooting from the field, but 4 of 6 on 3-pointers, and added four assists and three steals. Eric Garcia added 12 points and Fletcher Magee 10.
Wofford (9-12, 5-3 SoCon) broke away from a 21-21 tie to outscore ETSU 23-7 in the final 7:30 into halftime, leading 44-28, and the 14-point victory is its largest in the series which dates back to 1958.
Ge'Lawn Guyn led the Buccaneers (13-8, 6-2) with 18 points and Desonta Bradford added 17. Petey McClain and Lester Wilson added 10 apiece.
ETSU made just 3 of 17 3-point baskets.
