St. Francis (Pa) balance sinks LIU-Brooklyn 72-65
NEW YORK -- Greg Brown led a balanced attack with 14 points and Saint Francis Pennsylvania held off Long Island-Brooklyn 72-65 on Saturday.
Ben Millaud-Meunier had 13 points and Ronnie Drinnon 12 and 10 rebounds for the Red Flash (7-6, 3-1 Northeast Conference), who made 15 of 18 free throws in the second half and had five players in double figures.
Jerome Frink had 18 points and Martin Hermannsson 17 for the Blackbirds (7-8, 1-3).
Brown's layup capped a six-point surge for a 60-53 lead with 4:20 left. Nura Zanna's 3-point play cut it to three but Basil Thompson scored four straight points for the Red Flash that made it 64-58 at 2:48.
The Blackbirds came up empty on a three-shot possession and had another miss before Jerome Frink's jumper with 46 seconds cut the lead to 64-62. But from there the Red Flash made eight consecutive free throws to secure the win.
