Wagner tops Division III Staten Island 83-59
NEW YORK -- Mika Aaman scored 18 points, Dwaun Anderson had 17, and Wagner used a 24-6 run in the second half to pull away late and defeat Division III Staten Island 83-59 on Saturday.
Wagner (2-2) led 40-36 at halftime but saw its lead disappear when Staten Island used a quick 6-0 run to go up 46-45 with 14:29 left. But the Dolphins went cold, missing seven of their next nine shots and committing seven turnovers, and the Seahawks opened up a 69-52 lead.
Aaman was 5 of 8 from the field and 8 of 10 on free throws. He added five rebounds and two steals. Anderson was 7 of 8 from the free-throw line.
Staten Island committed 23 turnovers and was outrebounded 50-29. Will Fonseca scored 17 points on 7-of-20 shooting and collected six rebounds for the Dolphins.
