Tennessee State rolls to 85-55 win over Tennessee Tech
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Keron Deshields scored 15 points as Tennessee State rolled to an 85-55 win over Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night.
Tahjere McCall added 14 points and Xavier Richards and Armani Chaney had 11 points apiece for the Tigers (17-7, 8-3 Ohio Valley Conference) who forced 19 Tennessee Tech turnovers and had a 35-25 rebounding edge over the Golden Eagles (17-8, 9-3).
Tennessee Tech's Torrance Rowe scored 18 points in the first half to help the Golden Eagles to a 26-21 edge with 8:40 left before halftime. But the Tigers surged 22-9 to finish the period and take a 43-35 lead at the break.
Deshields sank two jumpers early in the second half to help the Tigers to a 53-39 lead with 14:39 to play and Tennessee Tech was held to just two field goals in the first 10 minutes.
Rowe finished with 19 points for the Golden Eagles.
